PNP Personnel to Receive Health Insurance Starting July. Starting next month, the 232,000-strong Philippine National Police (PNP) force will gain additional protection through the issuance of health insurance cards. This new initiative aims to provide better healthcare support for police personnel, especially during medical emergencies.
PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil announced that each officer will receive a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) card valued at PHP 40,000. Although this amount may seem modest, it is intended to provide essential medical coverage for police officers.
“Next month we will be distributing the HMO cards to each police officer. Each card is worth PHP 40,000. While this may not be a large amount, we are committed to ensuring that it will be beneficial for you,” Marbil stated during the launch of the PNP Family Day at their Camp Crame headquarters on Saturday.
Marbil emphasized that these HMO cards will be particularly useful in provinces where the PNP lacks its own hospitals. In many cases, police officers rely on private hospitals for medical care. With the new HMO cards, officers can seek treatment at any accredited establishment.
Support for Legal Challenges
In addition to healthcare support, Marbil promised to provide legal assistance to police officers who face counter-charges in the line of duty. This support aims to help officers navigate the legal challenges that arise from their responsibilities.
Upholding Integrity and Standards
On Sunday, Marbil urged all police officers to maintain the highest standards of integrity and to strictly enforce the law, particularly concerning Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs). He reiterated that any police personnel found protecting illegal POGO operations would face appropriate disciplinary actions.
“Integrity and accountability are the cornerstones of our public service. We remain committed to ensuring that our officers uphold these values,” Marbil emphasized in a statement.
The PNP has intensified its campaign against illegal POGO operations, achieving several successful outcomes in coordination with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG).
This combination of healthcare benefits and a strong stance on integrity underscores the PNP’s commitment to supporting its personnel and upholding the law.
